In the 1950's Ellicottville skiers would make an annual trek to Mt. Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians. They loved the people, the architecture, the mountains and they especially loved the Molson beer! In 1956 when these skiers decided to open a ski area of their own they borrowed many ideas from their favorite Canadian resort including the Bavarian look, the layout of the slopes...and the Molson beer. The Holiday Valley seal contains several Canadian symbols, including the Molson! Holiday Valley Resort opened on January 7, 1958, and our good friends from the North have been skiing with us ever since.

Border Crossing
As of June 1, 2009 US and Canadian citizens must present a WHTI compliant document to cross the border between Canada and the United States. Information on what documents qualify and other requirements.
If you are a frequent visitor from Canada, or a US citizen who travels to Canada often, you may qualify for the Nexus Program. Nexus allows you to use the dedicated Nexus lanes at both Canadian and US customs and eliminates routine customs and immigration questioning....which really means a quicker trip and more time on the slopes!
